Selection Criteria
The Contractor Assistance Program (CAP) is very competitive and has created a selection criterion to hopefully identify applicants that will be successful in the program. It does not discriminate based on race, age, sex, disability, or any other Michigan protected class. The only preference given is for veterans and those companies that are classified as a Geographically Disadvantaged Business Enterprise. The Licensed Builder preparation portion of CAP is designed for current business owners who intend to earn their builders license and assist in the building or rehabbing of Michigan housing units. The questions asked as part of the application process are part of our efforts to determine the likelihood of success in the program and are scored by a diverse team.
The questions are all related to the following components:
Relevant Certifications/Licenses
Business Profile/Mission Statement
Business Goals/Area of Concentration
Health/Longevity of Company
Time Commitment
Business References
Legal Business Structure/Website/Bank Account/Federal Tax ID
